


Can you install another test Red Hat system (say 35GB drive, not too big), and make sure to install Gnome as part of the install and see if that system works (first without parallels tools, then with it)?

Parallel tools are akin to what VMware tools is, however in the case of Parallel tools, it generally helps with graphics. You'd likely have to switch to multi-user.target just to reinstall parallel tools. Gjorgi, did you ever install parallel tools on that system by chance? There's a way to install that command-line if needed.
